Counting down the days for Iceland

1.5 weeks left until I leave for Iceland. I can’t wait. The excitement is really getting to me now. We have planned out the Iceland leg of our trip in more detail now so I think we are set. I’m just crossing my fingers that we will be able to get ourselves an ice caving tour. It’s still a little early for one so we’ll see how things go…

Here’s the day-by-day break down of what our trip is going to be like for the Iceland leg:

DAY 1: Arrive in Keflavik. Drive over to Reykjavik and enjoy the day there.
DAY 2: Visit Great Geysir, Gullfoss (waterfall), Kerio (volcanic crater), Seljalandsfoss (waterfall), Skogafoss (waterfall), Dyrhólaey (black sand beach), look out to Reynisdrangar (basalt sea stacks) and stay in Vik.
DAY 3: Hike Landmannalaugar.
DAY 4: Hike Skaftafell, look out to Jokulsarlon and stay in Hofn.
DAY 5: Visit Dettifoss (waterfall), Dimmuborgir (Gateway to Hell), check out the spa at Lake Myvatn and spend the night in Akureyri.
DAY 6: Explore Snæfellsnes peninsula and stay the night in Stykkisholmer.
DAY 7: Enjoy the Blue Lagoon and stay one final night in Reykjavik before heading to Copenhagen.
